Protestant Mennonite Weddings
A Protestant Mennonite wedding may vary depending upon the beliefs and practices of the Mennonite group.
- A Mennonite bride might make her own wedding gown and wear a traditional white covering.
- The wedding ceremony is officiated by a pastor, and may include Protestant traditions of giving the bride away by her father, a sermon, and the exchange of vows.
- At the reception guests might be served wedding cake and a simple beverage or a full dinner with toasting and singing.
- There is usually no dancing or alcohol at a Mennonite reception.
