DIY Bird Seed Wedding Favors

Cute DIY bird seed wedding favors that are Eco-friendly and easy to make.

Bird Seed Wedding Favors

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tbsp corn syrup
  • 4 cups bird seed
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Heart shape cookie cutter
  • Nonstick spray
  • Chop stick or wood skewer for making hole in ornament
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking/Cookie sheet
  • Jute
  • Card stock
  • Rubber stamp (or hand written)
  • Hole punch

Mix together flour and bird seed.

Add corn syrup and water.
Stir in unflavored gelatin and mix well.
Spray the inside of your cookie cutter with Pam. Place cookie cutter on parchment line
cookie sheet. Spoon mixture inside of cookie cutter and press firmly with
greased fingers. The more you press down the less shedding of seed.
Use chopstick or wood skewer to make a hole near the top of the heart.
Remove chopstick.
Carefully remove cookie cutter away from bird seed.
  Repeat until mixture is used up. Makes approximately 20 two inch hearts.
Let dry overnight.
 Cut jute to desired length for each heart. String jute through heart and add a tag.

 St. Ann Family loses home, almost everything
 
 Nicole Byrd and Josh Hall were victims of the “Good Friday” tornado that ripped through the area on April 22, 2011, destroying parts of Lambert Field and damaging some 3,000 buildings, mostly in the northwest parts of the county.
 
Josh and Nicole’s story was featured on KSDK nightly news when Frankie Peltiere of Festive Atmospheres learned of the couples situtation. He contacted KSDK and sent out a distress call to his friends and colleages on Facebook. Many St. Louis wedding vendors responeded with donations and offers of help.
 
It was with great pleasure to take part in the planning and coordination of this beautiful “resilient” couple’s wedding.

Day of Coordination

Denise phoned Perfect Day Weddings & Events, LLC three weeks before her wedding. Feeling stressed about her upcoming big day she turned to a professional to handle the logistics. Denise said she could feel the stress melt away as we talked on the phone. She wanted to relax and enjoy her wedding day, and that is exactly what she got to do!

 

Ceremony at Bellecourt Place

Denise is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy and work as a pharmacist in a Naval Hospital. Don Beliakoff is from Jacksonville, Florida. The couple will reside in Jacksonville, Florida, after the wedding. Their officiant is Pastor Jeremy Drake of CenterPointe Church in Collinsville, IL.

 ~ Pastor Jeremy is fantastic and is available for officiating weddings! ~

 The ceremony and reception was held at Bellecourt Place in Belleville, IL

Denise rented votive candles for the guest tables and weaved gold ribbon in Bellcourt Place’s centerpieces.

Denise, Don, and her brother surprised her parents with a replica of their wedding cake in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. Her parents took to the dance floor to dance to their first dance song, “Could I Have this Dance” by Frankie McBride. It was a very special moment!
